Metallica!

We are almost there!
The day after tomorrow, it is going to happen. We are going to step in a time machine and travel back in time, or at least some of us are. Me and my good friends, Ronni, Jesper and Eduardo are going to Metallica concert, so it is time to take that to small old black grayish t-shirt out of the closet, and play a 20 years old metal fan again.  Jeez we are getting old!! But Metallica guys are getting even older, i just saw a picture of Lars in Rock in Rio and i swear he looks like Phil Collins :D The only thing  that does not get old is their music, it still's good as it was back in the days, i am sure i am going to see Metallica fans much older than me, and other much younger, that is the beauty of music, or real music at least, never gets old, never dies.
I wonder if in 20 years from now people will still listen to Bieber?... ok back to the topic and the real music, i just wanted to share this anxiety and happiness with you guys. I know that are many out there that do not like metal, i know that are many as well that like metal and think that Metallica is not real metal anymore, well i am going to tell you again, stop labeling everything. When i was a kid i thought that only heavy metal was music, today i listen as much to hip hop, rock, pop, dub, electronic ... and the list goes on and on... there is nothing like the "only music", that is only good and bad music (and Bieber music :/ ), thats it!
And wether you want it or not Metallica is good music.

I hope you all are doing well, i am going to party hard and head-bang so much that probably 2 day after the concert i still will not be able to move my neck, see you around!
And by the way, this illustration was totally inspired in a amazing artist Denis Zilber, i hope one day i got to be as good as he is!!

Peace!!

Sketching Jason!

It is not Friday, not even the 13th, but Jason is coming home anyways!
Ana a friend of mine, suggested to me that i made a "Jason illustration", maybe something like: "The man behind the mask" I found the idea really interesting and started to work on it right away, the problem was that i could not see the man behind the mask.
I don't think that it is a man behind the mask. Jason is the mask. Or the mask is Jason? I think that sometimes the mask is the real you. But then is that a mask?
OMG i better stop with this cheap philosophy and show you the sketch i made.

Jason is coming home, on a Sunday :D

Peace!

Sketching a Child!

Today june 1st, is international children's day, and therefore i decided to sketch something allusive to the date.
When i was a kid this day was a day of joy, we used to play all day, making paintings, games and other funny things to celebrate children rights. When i was just a kid, i didn't know, or didn't understand that while we were there celebrating, other kids were crying, starving, dying around the world. Back then  i didn't know, or thought about that maybe one of the kids playing with me, would be beaten later that day by a drunken father, i didn't know or didn't get that there were kids with no houses, kids with no parents, Kids that play soldiers for real, with real guns and real blood, back then i didn't know that there were children that were not children!

Help is still needed!

Sketching "Karneval"

So last week was carnival in Aalborg!
I had decided that this would be my last one, i kind of start to feel a little old for going around in a costume  surrounded by 20 year old kids! But to tell you the truth, i think next year i will be there again, i love the drums, the samba rhythms, the sun (when it comes out), the beer, the way people are happy and respect each other, the peace and love, the creativity in some costumes, and not the least the 20 year old good looking people ;D
Something happens to people when they put a mask or a costume on, there are no differences, no race, no fat, thin or ugly, no smarter, no rich or poor... in the carnival parade we are all the same. People hug strangers, shout cheers to each other, laugh together, say sorry if they bump into you, something that does not happen in a normal city day life, it is like we are all brothers and sisters partying together, and that is what i love most on carnivals day!
We have been many things, Cave Man, Gum under the Chair, Old and Used Superheroes, Dog Shit under the Shoe... but this year, we did not had much time to prepare so we decided for something easier and faster, some coffee bags, straws to make some needles, liquid latex and a lot of face makeup that was all we needed to make our costume, 6 Voodoo Dolls and a Zombie, it came out pretty good actually and we had a amazing day, with sunshine, good music and good company.
This was 2012 Carnival, and if the world has not ended, next year we will be there again!

Here is the sketch of what we looked like, i hope you guys are doing well, and that the ones that were on this years Carnival had as much fun as i did, PEACE!!

Denmark or Cantmark??

Some days ago i read in a Danish newspaper  that they are looking for a date to stop the act of smoking in Denmark, as they already did in other countries like Finland if i remember right. They simply want to make it a crime, so get ready smokers you are going to get to be on the top of "Most Wanted" just after Hells Angels!
How can this be possible?? I am a non smoker, but i was a smoker for not long time ago, i stopped cause i choose to, not because someone told me to. The smoke policy implanted for some year ago, i can understand, and never was against it, but go as far a make it illegal?? When i moved to Denmark i remember i saw this land as a land of freedom. Denmark was known where people had rights, the land where people choose what to be, how to be it, and when! I know that rules are necessary, and is not that that we are discussing here, the thing is that in the past few years more and more laws appear to tell me what to do, what to eat, what to drink, etc... What is coming next??
We cant be fat anymore, we cant be thin either, are they soon going to decide how tall we can be too? The color of my eyes and hair? Wait a moment, i have seen this somewhere, Oh! i know where, it was not this kind of idea, that that little psycho that they called Adolf, had in mind like not that long ago? No? Sorry, i might be getting confused here!
Well i hope i die before the day that we all look the same, walk the same way, and have to ask permission to go and have a shit!

Peace!

Tattoo for a Boy!

I was going to call this blog entry "A sketch on a Boy", but it would be wrong cause i am actually not a tattoo artist so i don't  sketch on people, at least for now :)
Mathias Lost his mother at a young age, and he his been thinking about showing his love and how much he misses her, through art, art on his body. Some people would call this a cliché, but it is not. Some people, just like me love tattoos just for what the are, art on the skin, but some need that art to be special and have a bigger meaning, i think it is cool to show your feelings on a tattoo, something that is permanent, unless that it is the name of your boyfriend or girlfriend, that i would advise you not to. Remember Tattoos last forever, Love don't!

But back to the sketch, well Mathias is now old enough and save some "dollars" to get his first ink, and he asked me if i wanted to draw it for him. Of course i said yes, not just for the fun of it, but to make such a meaningful sketch and know that someone is actually ready to wear it everyday for the rest of hid life, it is a big deal. So we met over a coffee and a portion "Nachos" and he explain what he was thinking for the tattoo design, and so i went home and started sketching it, i am done now, and sent it to him, i really hope he likes it!
I am going to post here some stages of the process, the final one is the one in black and white, but i could not let it go and colored it just for fun.

I really hope that you enjoy it as much i do, Peace!!

Sketching Kira!

Kira was  Lara's marionette doll.
They used to play together all day, they even slept together at night, they were like best friends, like sisters.  The problem is that girls they grow up but dolls they don't, so with time Lara grew into a young woman, and the doll was forgotten, she became a simple piece of furniture, a nonliving being, a ornament, and after some years not even that.
She is now a forgotten toy living in the darkness of a box, waiting, whispering...

Sketching Danni T.

Some time ago i went to a Hip Hop concert, Pato Siebenhaar + warm up Danni Toma and IconAclass. My feeling was that the concert was happening backwards, Normally the warm up bands should be the ones that warm up for the main ones, but as i saw Mr. Toma giving 200% up on stage, i could not stop but think, "Where is the warm up band to this Guys?" Danni Toma and his band were motherfucking stars, and i was sure that the concert could not get better, and it didn't! IconAclass was so boring that people left the place after 5 minutes, and when Pato turn came, the mood was so down that i thought it would be impossible to continue. But Pato Siebenhaar didn't let us down, and he too delivered a fantastic concert.

So now i am sitting here, my drawing tablet in front of me and Danni Toma on my iTunes, this must be the most chill Hip Hop ever made, i listen to it almost everyday, and i am a Rock guy, but good music will always be good music and our homies Mr. Toma and Noodle are making, in my humble opinion, really good music. I hope they keep on the good work, and i can't wait to see them live again.

Peace!!

While i seat here and listen to Kaizers Orchestra "Kontrol på Kontinentet", the lines start to form around these Balkan music beats, and the stories behind the texts...   Norwegian words and special melodies, nad in the end this what we got!!
Hope you had a good weekend, the sketches are back!

Sketching He-Man

I was watching some kid channel, and some new cartoons, and nostalgia came over me. I do not want to sound like a old man, saying that everything in the old days was better, i promised that i wouldn't when i was a kid and  i am not going to go that way.
So the cartoons today are different than the ones when i was a kid, but not necessarily better or worst,(How did that came out?) but anyways i miss some of the old cartoon characters and series, one of them was "He-Man and The Masters of the Universe", who remembers that??
He-Man was a barbarian (with a really strange hair cut ) that had a coward green tiger as a pet, and a sword that gave him incredible powers when he said "For the powers of grayskull"or something like that, and it would transform his coward tiger in a wild battle cat. Together they fight against their life enemy "Skeletor". And so i decided i should sketch He-Man, to be honest he doesn't look the hero he used to when i was a kid, i think is the hair cut, if HeMan came back he would need a new haircut that didn't make him look like a page.
The ones who are old enough to remember He-Man will for sure agree to me that: "He-Man is the cartoons Chuck Norris!

Peace!

Some Sketches laying around!

Hey There!
These are some sketches i had "laying" around for a while now, the first one is the imaginary me. If i could i would have long hair, but with my 32 years, i am almost as bold as an egg, i also would have long beard like a Viking, but my girlfriend don't see it as charming as i do, i would smoke big cigars like Hell Boy, but i stopped smoking, and the goggles... well i could wear them in some Anime convention :D

The second and third sketches are something that i made for the "Comissão de Festasde Nossa
Senhora das Pazes" so they could make some t-
shirts for the Ficalho Festivities!
The fourth and final one is not a sketch but a
graphic job, also for "Comissão de Festas de
Nossa Senhora das Pazes", a poster to a event
that just happened last weekend, but cause it
was kind of secret i had to wait for them to
come out with the poster before i could show it
to you, but now the Festivities are over so here it is

Peace My friends!!

Sketching "Senhora das Pazes

I normally do not get myself into religion business, i am not religious and usually i see religion as a negative kind of thing. But i do respect the ones that  are religious, is not that i am atheist, i simply find it hard to believe in a book or religion created by a Human mind. But is not to discuss believing or not that i am posting this today, there is something that i love about religion, the fact that it creates traditions, and i LOVE tradition. Christmas, Easter, Carnival, Halloween, you name it. And today starts in the town that i come from in Portugal the festivities in honour of the towns protector "Senhora das Pazes", a holy virgin that  represents peace. There is a old story about how she appeared in a war time between Portugal and Spain and made peace between the two neighbour land. The thing is that today, most of the natives from my town "Ficalho" that do not live there anymore, will comeback for the weekend, to party, pray and see old friend and family. The ones that can not come,( it's my case) are there in heart and soul. This festivities, bring people together, put a smile in their faces, everyone puts on their best clothes and forget the crisis, the war... the negative things in the world.

For that and for the respect i have for the ones that believe in something bigger, for the Love in all the world, and the ones trying to make peace in the world or with themselves, for all the friendship, for the ones that believe in the Human race as one, but specially for my town's people "Ficalheiros" i made this sketch.

PEACE!

Sketches on 2 Canvas!!

I hope you guys had a good Easter! Me, i was sketching around, a big painting 2m x 1m and a little one 30cm x 80cm. The big one i have been thinking about it for a while and it came out just as i hoped, it was made to my be in my father in law's living room, they kind of decided the colors and the rest was up to me, well it came out pretty good, and they were really happy for it, and that was the important thing!!
The other one was just for fun, i kind of had the need to draw something and saw a empty canvas laying on the corner of a room, i started by sketching a strange woman that is pushing a button, and after that i just kept sketching until i had no more space on the canvas, it does not make sense, but there is so many things that don't make sense in this world!!

 Peace!!

Sketching Ghost!!

So finally Game of Thrones season 2 is out!!
It was a long and hard time waiting for it, but it was totally worth it, the first episode was as good as i expected, to short to be honest :D, The man of the North are back and marching south, the Wolf wants revenge upon the Lion, The Nightwatch is marching north of the wall to a greater danger than the games of the south, in every corner of the seven kingdoms we have a new self-proclaimed King, and even some new and strange Gods. This episode was really a build up to a great season o Game of Thrones.

When you play the Game of Thrones you win or you die!

I could not let it pass without a little sketch, so here it is "Ghost" the Direwolf!

Behind the Music!!

Bag Nummeret is out and i am loving it!

A new music blog about Danish music has been online now since the 26th of March. The blog is in danish and about danish musicians, and that is why i had some doubts about which language i should write this post, but then i decided to do it in english - let the world be inspired!
The concept in "Bag Nummeret" is pretty cool; the writers pick a band/musician and a song and make an interview out of it. I know it sounds really simple but it is much more than that. The 3 writers behind the blog are really good at it, and they made the interviews sound like something else - as if you are inside head of the musicians, listening to their thoughts. Suddenly the song that you know so well, starts to transform into something else, when you hear the story behind it, how it came to life, the process from scratch to "hit", and the meaning behind it. You hear their opinions ans inspirations and the story told by the artists themselves - and somehow i feel really close to them when i am reading the blog entries! Until today they have interviewed musicians like Tone, Raske Penge and Suspekt who i love, and it gave me the opportunity to get to know new ones like Vessel and Noir & Haze and i am really thankful for that :D

This is definitely a blog for music lovers, and i am one of them. When i was a kid my music taste was really limited, today it is as wide as it can get, i listen to everything, from trash-metal to house passing through hip-hop, indie, punk, classic bla bla bla... and i see in "Bag Nummeret" not only a blog where i can read about my favorite bands or music, but a place where i can get to know a lot of new ones too. So if you are danish and you don't know the blog, go and take a look at it, i promise you it is worth it.

Peace!

Alentejo!!

The sun just came up, here in northern Denmark the sky is blue and cloud free, i miss Home.
There are somedays like this, i does'n matter how happy you are in the place you're living, if you are away from Home, soon or later you will miss it. It has been 12 years now since i moved from Portugal, and i had since then a lot of days like this, i kind of like them now, nostalgic, kind of sad but still i like them, i love to think about my Home, my friends, my family, the smell, the warm days and so on... and then tomorrow i will be in love again with Aalborg. But today i Miss Alentejo and thefore i am going to illustrate a poem i wrote once, it is in portuguese thou.
Have a nice day my Friends!

As árvores sedentas
Gritam por vida e não por água
E as planicies secas
Sentem-se sós e abandonadas
E os montes brancos
Cairam, não foram derrubados
E as gentes da terra
Fugiram quase obrigados
E eu ouço os gritos
De uma Terra em sofrimento
E sinto a dor
Que me come por dentro
E abro os meus braços
E abraço-te forte
E sinto inveja
De quem tem a sorte
De viver nos teus campos
De quem sente as calmas
De uma tarde de Agosto
E se senta á porta
Para apanhar o fresco ao sol posto
De quem prova
O teu pão todos os dias
E bebe o teu vinho
Que o teu sol amadorou.
